Curriculum Mapping - Aligning for Success

There is infinitely more to teach than there is time to teach it. However, by prioritizing content at each grade level and ensuring teachers are successfully navigating their instruction using the same "map," schools can maximize student learning and ensure students do not experience fragmented, incoherent or repetitive learning experiences.

The Office of Standards and Curriculum will assist schools by aligning, or "mapping," district curriculum to the Priority Academic Student Skills and giving teachers a collective compass for student instruction. Whether individual teachers opt for a Route 66, interstate, or bypass when it comes to specific content, Office of Standards and Curriculum will assist them in ensuring all of their students arrive at the final destination: mastery of core knowledge.

Curriculum Mapping Purpose Statement
Students should know where they are going, why they are going there, and what is required of them to get there.

Curriculum Mapping Vision Statement Oklahoma

Improved student achievement supported by curriculum mapping-a road map for developing a coherent educational journey guided by professionals collaborating to bring about greater student success.

Software
Performance Pathways http://www.techpaths.com/ The South Dakota Department of Education (SD DOE) has negotiated a two-year contract with TechPaths: A Curriculum Mapping System. TechPaths is a powerful, user-friendly tool for aligning standards with curriculum maps. The TechPaths system utilizes exclusive templates--embedded in the software--for the design of lessons, assessments, and units. This provides searchable libraries of maps and the associated curriculum design work. The software will be available free to all K-12 South Dakota schools. The current agreement between SD DOE and TechPaths will expire on June 30, 2007. The SD DOE is currently in the process of negotiating with TechPaths either an extended contract or reduced pricing for school districts in the state when the current contract ends.

Curriculum Mapper Curriculum Mapper® is a powerful online tool that simplifies the mapping process. Curriculum Mapper® is the easiest way to create and edit your own curriculum maps while searching and referencing the maps from your entire school or district— even other schools across the country!

AllofE Solutions-eCurriculum AllofE's eCurriculum solution helps school districts meet the burden of curriculum requirements and provides the tool to incorporate important educational standards right down to the district's educational plan and empowers teachers to map those standards right into lesson plans.
